| We have lost a good friend in
Mayor Terry Reiley. At only 33 years of age, Terry lost his battle with leukemia on
February 21, 2000. We will always remember Terry's smile, his great sense of
humor, his love for God and for his family and his commitment to make Pottsville a great
place to live. Terry was a wonderful Role Model!
Terry was a big supporter of sports and city activities and the Pottsville
Gymnastic Training Center was included in this. Terry could be seen at many of
our PGTC functions including greeting Olympic Champion Shannon Miller when she visited
PGTC, presenting awards at the Friendship Classic and meeting with the international
delegations that have visited PGTC.
Terry encouraged us to have big visions!! He many
times discussed with us about building a new state of the art gymnastic facility here in
Pottsville, informing us of the "ideal" place to build and even offering to help
draw up some plans. He encouraged us to follow our dreams thus the major undertaking
of the Friendship Classic which brings the world to Pottsville. We now plan to
continue Terry's memory by presenting at each Friendship Classic the PGTC
Terry Reiley Memorial Award
Knowing Terry has made us all a better person and he will
hold a special place in our hearts here at Pottsville GTC! |
